The app that it launched in 2012, has seen a lot of improvements over this period. Today, Gaana 4.0.3 offers a library of over 3 million songs. A myriad array of music ranging from radio to multilingual music, from special picks by the editor to international pop charts, this very handy app is a must have for all music lovers.

Look and feel of the mobile app

Gaana App is a 23.4 MB free download at the App Store. If you are familiar with the online website, the app looks pretty much the same. If not, there wouldn’t be any trouble anyways. Gaana has a sleek interface and the easy to navigate, self- explanatory pages, that gel in with the iOS 7’s transparent overlay.

What the app has to offer?

This free to download mobile application holds a wide assortment for its audience, definitely much more than its counterparts. Apart from the music, it can also pump you up with dialogues from your favorite movies. Although there isn’t a lot, but Gabbar’s dialogues from Sholay, or the lyrical poetry from Kabhi Kabhi, it is all there. Gaana also lets you listen to live news from Times Now! Now, doesn’t that already qualify as a complete entertainment?

Discover something new, each time you tap on any of the icons. There’s music for your cardio sessions, for silent meditations, for parties, and even love songs for your special date. For the ones who do not wish to create a playlist every time, for every event, Gaana has it pre-set for you.

Radio, Music, Videos and More

Well, now let’s start with the radio, because this is a huge expanse in itself! Here you can find a massive collection from Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM. You can start the radio around a song or an artist, and it will keep playing related music. Whatever be your mood, start with one song, and Gaana keeps surprising you with more of the same genre.

If you are lost and bored, tap on the ‘one touch radio’. Gaana adapts to your taste, and the more you use this app, it will automatically play the music you like! Smart, right?

If you like a song, you can share it with your friends via e-mail, message, Facebook, Twitter and even Google Plus. You can create your own playlist or listen to the one that’s already in place.

Outside of the radio, there’s a lot more to do. While listening to a song, if you wish hum along, tap on details and then on lyrics. Gaana takes you to, and lets you have a karaoke instantly!

Watch videos when you are tired. Although it features a collection of the latest tracks, but sadly many of them are not available or are restricted (redirects you to the YouTube page instead).

I liked the fact that it keeps your music paused in the background when you are browsing within the app, and as soon you are done, it starts playing it back for you. Saves you from the irritation and the search time again and again.

Downloading music through Gaana

Gaana lets you download the songs and plays your favorites even when there is no network around. The songs will not feature in any of the native applications, but will be stored in the app’s own cache. Can you download for free you ask? Oh yes! Definitely!

Well, when you login with your social media account, the app gifts you with 50 Times Point and free downloads for the next 14 days. Invite friends, earn more points and get free unlimited downloads week after week!

The app works exceptionally well if you are in a good Wi-Fi network. In 3G and 2G networks Gaana plays a bit slow, but is still workable.

You can post in your favorites and listen to what your friends have been listening to. If you wish to hide all social activities, all you just have to do, is change your privacy settings.

It is an overwhelming experience to have Gaana on your mobile phone. Wherever you are, whatever time of the day it is, whatever your mood be, Gaana can be your companion throughout. Try it out, and let us know what you think!

However, we choose to ignore these as he sometimes comes up with good ideas notwithstanding the fact that they are articulated in confusing managerial jargon; perhaps explained by the fact that he is an MBA from IIM Bangalore.
