Traveling has become one of the essential and unavoidable part of our modern lives. People need to be on their toes and it makes perfect sense for travel service providers to capture this ever growing market. With the ease of a smartphone, what could be better than to give the power of travel booking right within your palm. And MakeMyTrip has done precisely that.
MakeMyTrip allows the users to not only book flights, view booking details and cancel existing flights, it also enables you to book buses, hotels and holiday packages. Users can create an account and do a one-time login to save their details and manage their bookings anytime.
The first thing that you notice after opening the app is its clean and intuitive interface. The UI is tidy and presents useful controls for flights, hotels, buses and holidays. Apart from that, you can see the menu bar,on clicking the top left corner, while the top right gives you access to your account details.
Bottom of the interface gives you access to your booking, flight status and feedback. The developers have worked hard to make the design aesthetically appealing by following the flat and modern design themes of iOS 7.
One of the delights MakeMyTrip throws in is the discount offers which flash on the home screen of the app rather than being hidden in one of the darkest corners. The menu is easy to navigate with no hassles encountered all along. Booking flights is easy as you get all the standard desktop filters such as flight details, times and airfares. Details are saved if you log in and this makes all future bookings fast in just a few taps. You can easily manage your bookings via the ‘My Bookings’ tab which allows you to see your upcoming/ongoing trips and also the last five cancelled trips.
However, more useful is the flight status functionality which gives you the power to check real time flight status, on the go! Hotel bookings turn into a delight, where you get the liberty to book hotels using filters such as price range, preferred location, hotel chains and star ratings. It’s equally helpful to give built in reviews through TripAdvisor as it avoids the irritation of leaving the app and initiating a browser search altogether.
And yes, you can very well use your discount coupons if you have any!
Going a step further, MakeMyTrip even offers you a bus booking tab where you can book the apt bus for your journey. It gives you the ability to specify the boarding point and view the seating map where applicable. Its gives you all the details even if there is a specified ladies seat available!
Strikingly, they have taken the pains to even throw in holiday packages for you to find the favorite holiday plans or call a travel expert to do it for you.
Rest assured, all the payments made thorough this app are secure, made feasible through credit/debit cards or through mobile and internet banking.
Given the efficiency of this app, you would hardly find a point which raises the eyebrow. One thing which might seek your attention is that the current version is not a universal application and hence you would not find it elegant on an iPad. More of a future work than a concern, MakeMyTrip app could be designed for the bigger screens of the iPad in near future to cater to a larger audience.
MakeMyTrip is a powerful and elegant iPhone app and it offers you all that you could possibly expect from a travel service provider. Planning a trip has never been easier, as MakeMyTrip offers you the power of desktop browsers in a beautiful yet efficient mobile app.
It is good-looking, simple, functional, and satiates all your travel planning needs in its entirety. It is a must have for the frequent travelers. Being a free of cost, 18.3 MB download from the App Store, it’s easily a no-brainer.

He harbors certain thoroughly misguided self-impressions like he has a refined aesthetic sense (our website’s visuals are NOT inspired by his ideas) or that he has a deep baritone. However, we choose to ignore these as he sometimes comes up with good ideas notwithstanding the fact that they are articulated in confusing managerial jargon; perhaps explained by the fact that he is an MBA from IIM Bangalore.
