The long hours at work, and expensive call rates are among the various reasons that has left many of us communicating over SMS and chats. When there isn’t any intonations of the voice, that’s when we take the help of emoticons to convey how we feel. There are a variety of emoticons available over the myriad of messaging apps.
Imoji; the future of emoticons
Rather than using pictures of cartoon characters, or same old yellow faced emoticons, what if we could customize it with a picture of our own? How would that be for a surprise?
Well, there’s this fabulously ingenious app named ‘imoji’ that lets you convert gallery photos into emoji on your iPhone! Take selfies, customize it, and send it across with your iMessage. Let your loved ones see ‘you’, rather than a cartoon character.
So how does this work?
Well it comes as a 10.2 MB free download at the App Store. A simple app that asks you for a sign up via email or through Facebook, and you are good to go! Create a smart username for yourself, and get the fun started.
You have colorful cards, in which you can organize your messaging list. Say for example there’s your group of BFFs, your parents, or your boyfriend. You can customize a card for each one of these groups, and create imojis (with love) for each one of them!
Click on the ‘+’ on that head you see, and it will ask you whether you wish to chop out web images, or take a photo. Imoji even lets you convert gallery photos into Emoji on your iPhone. How cool is that!
Ok, now once you have chosen a pic, crop it, erase the edges to create a sticker, choose to make it private or public, tag it and you are ready with your first, fully customized emoticon! Drag it to the center of the page with the comment box, and you have a New Message page. Create the message, and baffle your friends!
You can make your cards stand out with your choice of background colors, and can even use a header imoji to identify the cards!
Search to see a variety of public tags with weird cut outs of Sheldon, Elaine, Beyoncé, Harry Potter, Obama, Mr. Bean and what not. Have fun refreshing, and download the ones you love.
Well, I was testing the app and I created multiple new cards in a frenzy, and then, I couldn’t find a way to delete them! And then, if I wish to continue messaging using my custom cut outs, I have to switch back and forth between this app and the messaging app. There is no option to store it all in the keyboard, and use it at my own sweet time!
Well, I loved the concept and would surely use it despite the little glitches. It’s fun to be able to communicate with a personalised touch, in texts that are so very me!
