One of the best things from the iOS 7’s box of wonder includes the ability to tether a personal hotspot, i.e, letting other WiFi, Bluetooth friendly devices connect to the data network your iPhone is running on. However, not all carriers let you create a personal hotspot, without paying a nominal fee to use that service. That’s right, some service providers will only unlock this functionality on your iPhone when you activate a specific data pack on it.

That’s when developers of jailbreak community came up with TetherMe, a useful jailbreak tweak to use your iPhone to create a free personal hotspot, without paying any extra fee for the same. TetherMe lets you create a personal hotspot network via WiFi or Bluetooth. The best part about this jailbreak tweak is, that it is available for all versions of iPhone until today. This takes it back to iPhone 3G, and successfully modified to support iPhone 5S via all iOS firmware versions below iOS 7.0.6, since there is no jailbreak available at present for iOS versions above iOS 7.0.6. Here’s how you can get this wonderful Cydia tweak.

Step 1: Launch Cydia app, and navigate to Search button on bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Search for TetherMe jailbreak tweak. It should be available under the BigBoss repository which is pre-added to your iPhone the moment you jailbreak your iPhone. Simply tap the tweak and click on Purchase button on top right corner to install it. The tweak is currently available for $4.99 USD, but definitely worth the price, to support the development of jailbreak community.

However, you can follow the tutorial below to get all Cydia tweaks at the cost of nothing.

Step 3: Once you have successfully purchased/installed TetherMe, you can configure it by navigating to Settings->General->Network on older iPhones, and Settings->Cellular->PersonalHotspot to on, within new iPhones and iOS 7. Please note that there is NO additional icon/option to modify this tweak, and it embeds it’s services within the default Network settings where it can be configured.
