Mobile technology is on a verge of complete switch to LTE networks. Though Android smartphone developers added this technology long time back to their devices, but the most intelligent smartphone was still to join the pomp and show of LTE. Yes, you are right- I am talking about Apple iPhone.

In 2012, with the release of iPhone 5, Apple joined the LTE boom. Though LTE is a great asset considering the advancement in communication, but some of us still wish to enjoy 2G/3G services on our iPhone. Isn’t it? For starters, this will not only save your few bucks for costly LTE plans but it’ll also help you to optimize your battery consumption.

Without wasting any time, lets head over to this amazing trick to make your iPhone experience even better.

If your carrier doesn’t support LTE network, then you’ll be seeing 2G/3G options only. LTE/3G/2G switch will only appear on iPhone’s which are using LTE enabled carriers.

Enable 2G/3G data on iPhone 5, 5c, 5s

  • Search for iFile from Cydia or you can also search for similar SSH utility.
  • Head over to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/iPhone and search for your carrier’s ‘.bundle’ folder. Just Open it and scroll down to the bottom.

  • Look for “overrides_N51_N53.pri" file while scrolling, click on the ‘i’ button, and then add “%" to the file name. Now your file will look like “overrides_N51_N53.pri%". Press Done.

  • It’s time to find the Signatures folder and perform the same action as you did above i.e changing “overrides_N51_N53.plist" file to “overrides_N51_N53.plist%".

  • Reboot your device, sit back and relax as you are all set to enable 2G/3G data on iPhone 5, 5c, 5s.

If you wish to go for previous settings once again, just follow the above steps once again. But this time, remove the percentage signs.
