A lot many people lose their iPhones every day, and most of them never make it back to their original owner. While we have already come up with a tutorial to track lost or stolen iDevices including iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you can also take maximum possible precautions to make sure your confidential data is secure. In a scenario where you might have lost your iPhone, you can still use it to track it back to you, of course by the means of some additional application installed on your iPhone.
In this tutorial, we will cover one method each, for those users who have jailbroken their iDevice, and one for those who have not jailbroken their device. However, in the latter part, you will require the iCloud username and password of that iPhone which has been lost, or which you need to track. Simply follow the tutorial below to get started.
Use Someone Else’s iPhone As GPS Tracker to Know Their Exact Location
The best part about devices that have not been jailbroken is, that Apple has introduced tracking feature officially in its iOS firmware above iOS 6, which leaves users with no reason to jailbreak their iPhones in order to track their devices later.
For Jailbroken Devices
For those of you who have jailbroken their iDevices, you will require a third party tracking agent on your iDevice like mSpy and StealthGenie. Apart from spying on iPhones, these applications also provide you with an ultimate utility of letting you track that particular iDevice geographically.
Of course you will require physical access of that device initially to be able to install a spying software on the target iPhone. To make things clear, and to provide a tutorial on how to install such spyware applications on iPhone, you can refer to our step by step tutorial below.
FOR NON-JAILBROKEN DEVICES
For those of you who wish to keep their iPhone warranty intact, their exists a simple tracking feature already included with the iOS 6 and above for iPhones. Simply navigate to Settings->Find My iPhone->ON to enable Find My iPhone application on your iPhone. Once done, you can simply track your iPhone from your computer. Simply visit the official website of iCloud or click here, and log in with your iCloud credentials. Next, click on Find My iPhone application on your web browser screen and you should see your iPhone located on a map instantly.
You can choose to use any of the methods from above, depending on the jailbreak status of your iPhone. We personally recommend using the latter one since it keeps your device’s warranty intact.
